Mengapa Drupal, Bukannya Joomla?

Terima kasih. Read more »

Tutorial ini menggunakan Drupal versi 6.

New Domain Name - leapon.net!

After much consideration, the blog finally moved from leon.info.tm to leapon.net. Big cheers to myself :)

Why leapon.net?

Choosing a domain name is hard task, especially because most great names were already taken by somebody else. For example, I cannot buy leon.net because it is owned by another person (ugh! I want that one!). Buying the name from the person would be very expensive, so I had to come out with an original name. (Not so original – In fact, leapon.com is already registered! Thank God they don’t take the .net along when they were registering the .com.)

The second reason is that leapon is an anagram of “Leon A. P.”. I like anagrams :D

Leap On also has quite a meaning that I like. Probably it is not a grammatically correct English construct, but it refers to something high and powerful. It exudes optimistic thinking. I hope that we all can always be optimistic in our life! Read more »

Making Games with Python: Which Library To Use, pygame or pyglet?

Python is a simple yet powerful programming language, and it is one of my favorite. Add to the fact that it has the powerful modules that focuses on providing the necessary utility functions to make a game!

I want to make exciting playable games, but I don’t think a one-person development can live with C/C++ 3D framework especially if the person is me, so I seek to make 2D games. In Python, at least there are two modules that can be used: pygame and pyglet (can’t they have any name not starting with ‘py’!?!?).

A Descriptive Paragraph on Mathematics

I found the file of an old work of mine – creating a descriptive paragraph – in my computer. My teacher then said that this was a quality writing (he even asked me for a copy) so I thought it would be great to publish this description about mathematics.

The question is: Describe professionally the value of learning a particular field of study. I didn’t get any idea for subjects other than mathematics, so here is what I wrote: Read more »

OOXML vs. ODF: A Battle of Format

Yesterday I collected files from my classmates (by email) to aggregate it because a teacher had asked us to do it. Since most of us are pretty much non-techies, I would assume that everybody submit .doc files – that goes without saying. A headache came in, however, when one of my friends submitted a .docx file.

I am perfectly aware that this is a new file format used by Microsoft Office 2007 – but hey Microsoft, do you think that everybody in the world can suddenly open up a new file format just because you use it? A patch from Microsoft for opening up these files cost a dreading 28 MB download. Do you think everybody in the world has that much of time and bandwidth to download it? (No, Ritchie, I’m not blaming you for this fuss.) Read more »
