freedns.afraid.org Subdomains Don't Work for Google!

I like the service at freedns.afraid.org. It provides free nameserver and subdomain management. But being able to have some free subdomains with full DNS control is what makes freedns.afraid.org the best! There are loads of domains you can have as the superdomain of your subdomain (here comes the full list).

But what I really, really hate about the service right now is that it doesn’t really work for some (few) clients. Why? No idea. And which client that I need to cater very much, yet unable to resolve my free subdomain name? Google. Yup, that Google.

I don’t care if one or two or even ten people in some distant nation cannot access my site, but if Google cannot, a whole lot of traffic source will be missing. And how do I know that Google cannot access my site? Check with its own tools. It tells me “HTTP Error: Domain Name Not Found”.

This is the reason that I change my domain earlier. But what I don’t really like from uni.cc domains is that they limit sites daily hits by 2000; more and you need to pay (from their TOS) (not that I can really do it though :p). I desperately hope that freedns.afraid.org improve itself so I can use that wonderful service again!

Hi, If you look in the afraid.org website they mention they operate special name servers for Google and these normally don't work with subdomains. If you want to enable Google to work with your subdomain you have to e-mail them directing them to your website so they can evaluate it. They says this is to prevent abuse. While not explained in the FAQ, I think the problem is people abuse their services by creating a large bunch of subdomains with websites that point to their main website to try and increase their Google page rank. Since afraid.org doesn't want this, they limit subdomain support with Google so that only people who are running genuine websites have their websites seen by Google

I like .tk domain
